After enduring a stretch of three games over eight days and the recent November weather, the Eagles spent Monday starting the process of re-sodding the playing surface at Lincoln Financial Field.

The team's groundskeeping crew finished the job late Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles will now compete on a brand-new playing surface. The remaining schedule includes back-to-back home games over seven days in December. With a new surface, however, Lincoln Financial Field will be more than ready for the action.

The new field installation was overseen by Tony Leonard, the Director of Grounds for the Eagles since 2000. He has an extensive network of NFL colleagues and field experts that he consults with on a regular basis and Leonard also consults with coaches and players on playability and field performance. He analyzes the field conditions and future schedule after each game, and based on the combination of heavy use, weather conditions and time of year, made the recommendation to resod.

Re-sodding natural grass fields is common around the NFL. In fact, almost every NFL stadium that hosts college games has already re-sodded this year.
