Detroit Lions vs Philadelphia Eagles
Sun, December 8, 2013
The Lions and Eagles had very similar disappointing seasons in 2012. Both teams had high expectations entering the year, but ultimately finished at 4-12 and last place in their respective divisions.
Eagles fans may remember last year's matchup with Detroit, although they may not want to. The Eagles led 23-13 with just over five minutes to play, but the defense couldn't hold the lead and the Lions would go on to win the game 26-23 in overtime. For the Eagles, who were on the verge of improving to 4-2, it may have been the game that turned the season in a bad direction.
The Lions feature a pass-happy offense, led by gun-slinging quarterback Matthew Stafford, who just signed a multi-year extension with the team, and Calvin Johnson, who is arguably the best wide receiver in the league. In 2012, Johnson set the NFL record for most receiving yards in a season with 1,964.
Detroit leads the all-time series 16-13-2.
